Jeff and Karyn

Meet the Owners

Karyn Morris, Founder/Owner

Karyn grew up in Taylor and will always be a Taylor Duck.  Her hobbies include home décor, reading, church youth work, and recreational softball. As a graduate from Abilene Christian University with a B.S. in Accounting, Karyn brings an organization and analytical perspective to the business.  Her work in the home building industry right out of college established her love for the home, and exposed her to valuable customer feedback regarding style and interests.  Karyn, along with Jeff, attend and serve at Westover Hills Church of Christ. She enjoys being in downtown Taylor and serving the community she grew up with and loves!

Jeff Morris, Co-founder

Jeff married into the passion for home décor and truly admires Karyn’s natural eye for style and proudly credits her with all their home décor.  Jeff also graduated from ACU with a B.S. in biochemistry, going on to Texas A&M to earn his Masters in Business Administration (MBA).  Jeff serves as CFO at Brentwood Christian School, an intersection of his business interest and his mission-mindedness.  Jeff brings both an operations and financial background to the table.  .

Sweet & Southern would love to get to know you. Come by and see us!

From Magnolia to Merle Norman to Sweet & Southern

The Sweet & Southern structure was built in 1923 and operated as Magnolia Station.  The building was later used as a taxi service before it was acquired by Karyn's grandfather, Lloyd Steger in 1983.  A family friend was a student at the University of Texas at the time and for a class project in her architectural program designed the build out that enclosed the covering for what is now the northeast side of the building.  For many years, Karyn's grandmother, mother, and Aunt operated Merle Norman Cosmetics within the building.  Throughout the 90s to the present, Stacy Roznovak has run her nail business here as a constant presence through the various tenants that have leased the space from the family.  Karyn has continued the family tradition and is proud to be a part of downtown Taylor!
